Healing Both Ends of the Leash
Dear Wonderful Families of the Animal and Bird Clinic,
It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to help you keep your beloved pets healthy since 1991. Over the years, many of you have asked whether I would ever write a book about the miraculous healing I’ve witnessed when animals are nourished with whole, real food rather than processed diets.
Then some of you asked an even deeper question: Could the same healing transformations we see in pets also apply to people? The answer is a resounding yes!
After seven years of research, reflection, and writing, I’m thrilled to share my new book: Healing Both Ends of the Leash – An Accidental Veterinarian’s Stories of Healing with Whole Food, Ancient Wisdom, Modern Medicine, and Loving Kindness. I poured so much heart (and many stories!) into this work that my editor decided to split it into two books. Any proceeds from this project will be directed to causes close to my heart, including supporting homeless pets, funding wildlife research at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and helping to care for the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness. In addition to inspiring stories, you’ll also find:
- A food therapy chart to guide healthy choices
- Holistic wellness guidelines for both pets and people
- Natural approaches for managing autoimmune diseases are the same ones I personally use through real food, surfing, yoga, and the joy of working alongside our wonderful team at the Animal and Bird Clinic
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I’ve loved living them, and that they help you stay healthy at both ends of the leash.
With gratitude and kindness,
Doug Coward, DVM
